beach wknd--most of the water came from the sky

Well, we went to the Perdido Beach Resort this past weekend for Arthur to attend the "newspaper convention". I took Turner to the Foley Railroad Museum Saturday morning while Arthur attended his sessions. We tried swimming in the pool Saturday afternoon in the rain but the lightning strike sent us back to the room. So, we went and had ice cream at Scoops instead. Turner wasn't sure if he liked dad's chocolate ice cream or mom's strawberry, but he seemed to enjoy the cherry smoothie! We also walked around the souvenir shops, where Turner got to be a pirate and ride a dolphin! We caught got caught by a nasty storm when we went out to eat that evening and got soaked getting back to the car. Sunday morning, we headed out to the beach for Turner to play in the sand, even if we weren't allowed to get in the water. Arthur found some tarballs on the beach while we were out there. We got in a little more pool time (and the water before 9 am is quite frigid--let me tell you!) before we had to check out and head back home. Personally not my idea of a great beach weekend, but it was nice being able to take Turner to the gulf coast for the first time. I wish we could afford to take him back again this summer, hopefully when it's not raining and oil isn't pouring in.
