easter at Grandmamma McLeans

A little taste of Arthur humor here. They may be out of order from his original set.

Just a hard working azalea farmer and proud American.

Hi folks! Turner McLean here.....

Each one is inspected for its utmost quality....

If you have to ask the price....................

Azaleas so large they make this grown man look like a one year old!

Would you buy used azaleas from this man?

Easter portrait session

Arthur said it best in his column this week.....
Spring’s here and a young man’s fancy lightly turns to, well, Turner can be quite the flirt with the ladies no matter the weather, so that’s not it.
No, in the spring my little man’s thoughts have turned to the great outdoors. With warm weather and blooming plants and trees, Turner’s turned into an outdoorsman. The first door he managed to open on his own was the door out. So far, he hasn’t been able to duplicate that feat, but it’s not for lack of trying, that’s for sure.
And once the boy’s outside, he sure doesn’t want to come in. I think I was a little surprised he’s taken to the outdoors as much as he has. The first time he ever felt grass on his hands he acted like it was cruel and unusual punishment. Well, he got over it pretty quickly it seems.
I’m glad for it too. I’d much rather him want to spend time outdoors than cooped up inside all the time. Is it too much to hope for that this lasts well into his teenage years when he forsakes the charms of video games for the great outdoors? Probably, but you never know. As amazing as some of these video games are now, I can’t imagine what they’ll be like in 15 years. I don’t even remember what kinds of video games they had 15 years ago. Donkey Kong Country 2 was put out that year. I don’t think I have to tell you there’s a pretty big difference between that and Call of Duty 12 or whatever it is.
Well, while his love of the great outdoors is great, it does cause problems from time to time. Take this weekend for instance. Mommy and Daddy wanted to just take a nice family Easter portrait in the studio. Turner had other ideas, including letting everyone on Front Street know that he was not at all happy about having his picture made in the studio. We did get a couple of pictures in between the fits, but Mommy, Daddy and Turner don’t appear in the same photo this year because we didn’t have the luxury of setting the camera up on a tripod and using the timer. You had to get your shots fast.
What was Turner’s idea of a good Easter shoot was strolling around downtown Thomasville in his Easter best swinging his Easter basket while Daddy dashed around like a paparazzi shooting his picture. Unlike Turner, we thought those shots looked more like a fashion shoot. But what are you gonna do?
I guess the fashion shoot idea’s not a bad one. Maybe Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger or one of those needs a toddler supermodel. I think Bridgett and I could help him handle all the fame and fortune. Just have to make sure all the shoots are outside.
