First Hunting Trip

The question I asked on facebook was "Is it obvious my son is being raised in South Alabama?" He heard the boys in his class at school talking about hunting with their dads and  he asked when his PawPaw would take him.  So, PawPaw asked if he could take him today.  I found it so cute that the question Turner wanted to ask PawPaw was if he had enough camo or if he needed to go buy some more.  PawPaw told him since it was the end of the season, he would probably be ok today and that we would get him some more camo next season.  Uncle Jeff got out there with Turner to learn about gun safety and do some target practice.  Turner has inherited the BB gun that James and Jeff both used as little boys.  PawPaw took Turner out to a shootinghouse on Granny's property and PawPaw said he was pretty quiet (for Turner that is) for about 15 minutes.  Then they spent about 20 minutes walking the woods.  They saw some deer tracks and droppings and a squirrel, but Turner said the squirrel was just too fast.  Turner said he had fun and wants to go again.

I weighed in the Arc Angels yesterday for Scale Back Alabama.  TACC is a weigh in site and I am on a team with some ladies that I work with.  I have to lose a pound a week for 10 weeks for our team to be successful.  I think I did ok today for my first day of the program.  I pushed Turner in the stroller for about 30 minutes this morning for exercise.  I made turkey/spinach burgers for lunch today and made a wrap tonight with chicken/spinach/corn/homemade salsa.  I cut citrus up and put it in water to drink and haven't even had a diet soda today.  I'll keep you posted on my progress! Maybe telling everybody what I'm eating and how I'm exercising will keep me motivated!

Cowboy dinner

It's a good thing acting comes naturally for me.  I have been trying hard lately to come up with dinners that Turner will eat (that don't include chicken nuggets, hot dogs,  hamburgers and pizza--especially since he eats out with dad a couple of times a week now).  I found a recipe for a cowboy meatloaf on pinterest and Turner was a little skeptical at first.  So, I decided to make it a fun meal.  We got out the cowboy dress up items and a triangle to ring as our dinner bell.  Using my best drawl and vernacular, I chowed down with my favorite pard'ner.  He did eat some of it, but I don't know how successful I was considering half way through the meal he was asking in his best cowboy accent for chicken nuggets.

Randomness

Yesterday Turner was helping Momma, Daddy, Nana, and Papaw clean up the yard.  We kept carrying sticks to the road for the town crew to clean up.  On one trip, he said "Look Mom! We're building a beaver dam!" Nana and I both explained to him that beavers need water so his next request was for us to pour water over his sticks.  Papaw told him he didn't think having water would bring the beavers to our dam.

Is it wrong of me to take offense to people commenting that I've lost a "ton" of weight lately? I may lose a pound or two here or there; it all depends on the day, but I certainly haven't lost a ton.  I'm still wearing the same clothes I've been wearing the last 5-6 years.  It just makes me wonder what image they had of me before if they think I've lost that much.  I realize they mean it as a compliment, but when you really haven't lost any weight, it doesn't feel like much of a compliment anymore.

I've signed up to teach Kindermusik classes in Clarke County.  I have my vocal review coming up to prove I can sing (we're in definite trouble if I can't pass--I'll want my money back from UA for a four year degree if I wasted my time on that).  CCARC is offering a space for me to use and if I get enough interest, I might branch out to Tville/GH. So, if you know of parents with small children who would like for them to be involved in music classes, send them my way.

Ok, those are my random thoughts for the day! Happy Birthday to me....Happy Birthday to me......

Lost account

I keep forgetting I have this account. We have just gotten so used to posting on facebook that I forget that there may be reasons to share here. Maybe one day I will catch this site up...oh...on the last year or so!

I guess I have totally forgotten about a blog!haha Well, I guess I should update on me for those of you who haven't heard---I quit my job at CPS. I am now working for CCARC in Jackson. We have all these crazy titles that you won't understand, but basically I am like an in house case manager. In other words, I am using all of those skills I was taught as a music therapist again and so far am enjoying it.

Where to begin on catch you up on Turner??? Hmmm.....We have enjoyed some football this season. I've also posted pictures of his first field trip with the daycare to the pumpkin patch in Clanton. He also enjoyed Ghost Walk this year in Tville even though he didn't win the costume contest. I will do my best to post pics on here of Halloween after this weekend/next week.

Well, for those of you who haven't seen all of this on facebook already, enjoy!!!! Maybe I'll get back in the habit again of updating more often.

Childrens parade

Last year I had a float ready weeks before the parade. This year I was working on ideas the night before. Strangely enough this year we won something. I tried to make a theme off of john michael montgomery's song letters from home. The float in front of us had a louder speaker though. But we always have fun doing it!
